Annabel Crabb and Leigh Sales, co-hosts of the cult podcast “Chat 10, Looks 3”, venture to the Gold Coast so that Sales can give Crabb lessons in how to be a Queenslander while both of them soak up a little bit of post-Logies glow that neither of them experienced at the time owing to not having been nominated for anything.
Fresh from cleaning up at the 2019 Australian Podcast Awards Leigh Sales and Annabel Crabb have just recalled that some months back they recklessly booked one of Melbourne’s largest venues and consequently are obliged to turn up to Hamer Hall on November 1 and entertain up to two and a half thousand people.
It’s Christmas time in Canberra. Every Dash-8 in the place is loaded with politicians and staffers fleeing for the summer. But two foolhardy individuals are swimming against the tide: It’s Crabb and Sales, back for their customary ANU summary of their year in books, films, recipes, podcasts and life blunders.
Adelaide! Once again, like a determined pup dragging a particularly recalcitrant stick in through the pet door, Annabel Crabb has convinced Leigh Sales to come back to South Australia, a state in which Crabb was fortunate enough to be born and raised and with which Queenslander Sales could only dream of having an association.
Once again, bumbling colleagues Leigh Sales and Annabel Crabb have confidently booked The Enmore, only to slump into the customary subsequent round of intense self-questioning as to why anyone would pay good money to hear a couple of ageing hacks crap on about the books they’ve recently enjoyed. Last year, the pair panickedly recruited stage goddesses Pamela Rabe and Virginia Gay to paper over (magnificently) what was otherwise the essential paucity of talent on display. This year, let’s face it, probably won’t be as good but it’ll still be fun to see the expressions on their faces as it all goes to custard. Plus there’s a working bar, so see you there yeah?
